Capt. Max Hardberger

Max Hardberger works in Condon Claims Management’s Fort Lauderdale office. His maritime career has included positions as ship captain, port captain, salvage master, maritime investigator, and maritime attorney. He began his claims-handling activity in the early 1990’s as a marine investigator with a Louisiana private investigative firm, then joined a major international marine consulting firm as surveyor and adjuster. He has handled personal injury, cargo, collision, allision, H&M (hull and machinery) and general-average claims.

His general work description includes determining the nature, cause, extent and recommended remediation of marine losses, attending joint inspections and drafting joint survey reports, conducting investigations into the causes of marine losses, and negotiating settlements with vessel owners, adverse vessel interests, shore interests, and other claimants. He has adjusted claims involving cargo ships, cruise ships, ferries, oil rigs, oilfield-support vessels, fishing vessels, motor-yachts, sailing vessels, PWC’s, and other watercraft.

Max holds B.A., M.F.A., and J.D. degrees.
